Rollins vs Nakamura Match for World Title Set for WWE Packback 2023
Seth Rollins will defend his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura at WWE Payback 2023 PLE.
During the August 7 episode of RAW, Shinsuke Nakamura, Cody Rhodes, and Seth Rollins defeated The Judgement Day (Finn Balor, Damian Priest, and Dominik Mysterio) in the main event. However, following the match, Nakamura unexpectedly delivered a Kinshasa to Rollins.
During the August 14 episode of RAW, Nakamura revealed his desire for a chance to contend for the World Heavyweight Championship. Seth Rollins then accepted the challenge, and after that, Rollins told Nakamura to shake his hands. Nakamura complies and shakes hands, but then Nakamura whispers something into his ear. Rollins becomes visibly tense upon hearing this, and by taking advantage of the situation, Nakamura delivered a Kinshasa.

During the August 21 episode of RAW, Nakamura revealed in a video segment that he told Rollins that he knew about his back injury, which flustered Rollins. After the segment, WWE made the match between Rollins and Nakamura for World Heavyweight Championship official for WWE Payback 2023 PLE.
The upcoming bout for Nakamura will mark his first singles match at a Premium Live Event since March 2021, when he took on Seth Rollins at the Fastlane event. Rollins defeated Nakamura at that event.
WWE Payback 2023 PLE is scheduled for September 2, 2023, at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, PA. This is the first match announced for the event.
