Ronda Rousey Challenges Shayna Baszler for WWE SummerSlam 2023
The baddest woman on the planet, Ronda Rousey, has challenged Shayna Baszler at WWE SummerSlam PPV 2023 event on August 5.
The rivalry between Rousey and Baszler started at the Money in the Bank PPV event, where Baszler turned on Ronda Rousey during WWE Women’s Tag Team title defense. This allowed Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez to become the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.
During the July 3 episode of RAW, Shayna Baszler explained her actions she expressed her intention to reveal Ronda Rousey’s truth. She also mentioned that she is the only one capable of defeating Ronda. After this confrontation, Rousey and Baszler brawled on RAW in the last couple of weeks.

During the July 17 episode of RAW, Baszler defeated Nikki Cross within a minute. Ronda Rousey interrupted her from the skybox and mentioned that she is one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. After some argument, Baszler rushed towards Rousey but Ronda ended up saying that she would get WWE to book the match for SummerSlam PLE.
No official announcement has come from WWE for this bout, although two matches are confirmed for the event, where Brock Lesnar will face Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins will face Finn Balor to defend his World Heavyweight Championship.
The history between Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler goes even before their WWE days. They were part of the same team during their MMA days. However, they had very different paths to WWE. While Ronda debuted in WWE at WrestleMania 34 in 2018, Shayna bid her time in the independent circuit from 2015 to 2017 before heading to WWE NXT.
During this rivalry, Shayna has accused Ronda of being selfish, while Ronda said Shayna owes her career to Ronda.
