Danielson Issues Challenge to Okada for Wrestle Kingdom 18 Rematch

Bryan Danielson AEW Debut All Out 2021

Bryan Danielson has issued a challenge to Kazuchika Okada for a rematch at the Wrestle Kingdom 18 event in 2024.

During NJPW Power Struggle on November 4, a video package showcased Bryan Danielson with an eye bandage. In the promo, he voiced his intention to break Okada’s arm and take away the Rainmaker title from him.

He then issued a challenge to Okada for a rematch, with the condition that the match should take place in the Tokyo Dome at Wrestle Kingdom 18 in January 2024.

Danielson and Okada had previously squared off at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2023 in a highly anticipated match. This bout resulted in Bryan Danielson suffering a broken arm, which sidelined him until AEW All Out. The injury was sustained during an elbow drop executed by Okada.

On the October 25 episode of AEW Dynamite, Danielson and Okada meet again, this time in tag team action with Orange Cassidy and Claudio Castagnoli as their tag team partners.

As the match came to a close, Bryan took both Orange Punch and a Rainmaker, leading to Bryan going down holding his face. This was to sell an already broken orbital bone, which Danielson has since undergone surgery on. His eyes were taped during the video promo that aired at Power Struggle event.

Wrestle Kingdom 18 event will take place on January 4, 2024, and it will be live from Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan. It will be headlined by IWGP World Heavyweight Championship match between Sanada and Tetsuya Naito.
