Anarchy in the Arena Announced for AEW Double or Nothing 2024
The battle lines have been drawn for Anarchy in the Arena match which returns at AEW Double or Nothing 2024 PPV.
The New Elite – comprising of The Young Bucks, Kazuchika Okada and Jack Perry – have taken over AEW in the last couple of weeks. After hitting AEW President Tony Khan with TK Driver two weeks back, they attacked fellow EVP and former The Elite member Kenny Omega last week on Dynamite.
This week, Kenny Omega appeared with an important announcement on this week’s Dynamite(May 8). He said The Elite would have to be in Anarchy in the Arena match taking on Team AEW at Double of Nothing PPV.
Who are in Team AEW?
Omega announced that Team AEW would have The FTR and two more wrestlers who would reveal themselves to the Elite before the end of the show. The Elite came out to the ring in the final segment of Dynamite. FTR soon followed them out on the stage. The Young Bucks mocked them and asked who would dare to team up with them to fight The Elite.
Eddie Kingston revealed himself to be one of the wrestlers daring to do so. The last member of Team AEW turned out to be Bryan Danielson. Team AEW then went into the ring and had a face-off with The Elite which led to a brawl to close the show.
Anarchy in the Arena is a Double or Nothing Tradition
This is the third year in a row that Anarchy in the Arena match is taking place at Double or Nothing. It is basically a Falls Count Anywhere match between two teams of 4 or 5 members, but with the added twist of fighters wandering all over the arena during the match. The match replaced Stadium Stampede match from Double or Nothing 2020 and 2021.
The first ever Anarchy in the Arena match took place between Blackpool Combat Club and The Jericho Appreciation Society at Double or Nothing 2022. Blackpool Combat Club were also part of the second such match at Double or Nothing 2023 where they faced The Elite.
