WWE SmackDown episode of April 7, 2023, will start the build-up towards Backlash 2023 and will see Sami Zayn taking on Jey Uso in a singles match.
WWE announced that Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn would also celebrate their epic victory. Newly crowned WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley will claim her throne. Rhea Ripley’s Segment
Rhea Ripley defeated Queen Charlotte Flair in a hard-fought match on Night 1 of WWE WrestleMania 39. Since she ended the reign of the Queen, now she would appear on the blue brand to claim her throne. Will she be confronted by the SmackDown women’s division? Will we get to know her first challenger?
Triple H to Address SmackDown
Triple H opened RAW After WrestleMania earlier this week, and he is now also going to be on SmackDown. At RAW, after he claimed that nothing is changing in WWE after the merger, Vince McMahon changed the whole RAW from backstage. What message does Triple H has on SmackDown?
Sami Zayn vs Jey Uso; Owens & Sami Celebrate Titles
WWE revealed that the Undisputed WWE tag team champions Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn will appear this Friday to celebrate their epic win against The Usos in an instant classic match in the main event of WWE WrestleMania 39 Night 1. Additionally, it is also announced that Sami Zayn and Jey Uso will clash in a singles match on April 7 edition of SmackDown.
Roman Reigns avoided The Usos completely on RAW earlier this week. Will a win over Sami change his mood towards The Usos? Should we expect a rematch between Owens & Sami and the Usos in coming weeks?
Trios Banger
Imperium and The Brawling Brutes will continue their rivalry with a trios match this week. Intercontinental Champion Gunther, Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci will take on Sheamus, Butch and Ridge Holland. Sheamus challenged Gunther at WrestleMania in a triple threat match with Drew McIntyre also being a part of it. Will we see Drew’s presence felt in this match?
Father Son Storyline Continues
Rey Mysterio was able to beat Dominik at WrestleMania but Dominik hit back at Bad Bunny on RAW leading to Damian Priest putting Bunny through the announce table with a chokeslam. Rey will enrol the services of Latino World Order teammate Santos Escobar to take on Dominik and Priest this week on SmackDown.
What Else to Expect?
LA Knight was absent from WrestleMania card despite being one of Triple H’s favorite. There are rumors that Knight will get a big program in the new season. What’s in store for him?
