Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler are officially announced to clash in a one-on-one match at WWE SummerSlam 2023 PLE.

The rivalry between Rousey and Baszler started at the Money in the Bank PPV event, where Baszler turned on Ronda Rousey during their WWE Women’s Tag Team title defense. Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez doubled up on Ronda to win Women’s Tag Team title.

During the July 3 episode of RAW, Shayna explained her actions and expressed her intention to reveal Ronda Rousey’s truth. She also mentioned that she was the only one capable of defeating Ronda. After this confrontation, Rousey and Baszler brawled on RAW in the last couple of weeks.

During the July 17 episode of RAW, Baszler defeated Nikki Cross within a minute. Ronda Rousey interrupted her from the skybox and mentioned that she is one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. After some argument, Baszler rushed towards Rousey, but Ronda ended up saying that she would get WWE to book the match for SummerSlam.

Shayna Baszler then replied on July 24 RAW episode that she wanted “a fight” against Ronda. Ronda then accepted that to have “a fight”. WWE made the match official on 27 July via Twitter.

Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler were on the same team during their MMA career. Since her debut in WWE at WrestleMania 34, Ronda went on to win RAW, Smackdown and Women’s Tag Team titles. Shayna worked in independent wrestling and ROH from 2015 to 2017 before heading to WWE NXT, where she became NXT Women’s Champion. She also held Women’s Tag Team titles with Nia Jax.

WWE SummerSlam 2023 is scheduled for August 5 in Detroit, MI. One more highly intense rivalry match has been confirmed for the event between Logan Paul and Ricochet.
