Pat McAfee & Michael Cole Form Commentary Team for WWE RAW

Pat McAfee WWE WrestleMania 39

Pat McAfee has returned to WWE and is set to team up with Michael Cole as a member of the new commentary team for RAW.

During January 29 episode RAW, the official announcement was made, confirming Pat McAfee’s return. Seated alongside Michael Cole, it was revealed that they would be the permanent commentary team for RAW going forward.

McAfee and Cole served as the commentary duo for WWE SmackDown between April 2021 and September 2022, earning popularity among fans. However, McAfee decided to leave his commentary role in 2022 to join ESPN’s College GameDay team.

McAfee has openly expressed that he has not yet committed to renewing his contract with ESPN for the upcoming College GameDay season. As a result, the plans for the personality remain uncertain.

After stepping away from the full-time commentary team, McAfee has made occasional appearances, serving as a commentator at events like the Royal Rumble and Fastlane in 2023. He also participated in WrestleMania 2023, facing off against The Miz in a match.

Additionally, he entered this year’s Royal Rumble match as a participant, choosing to eliminate himself after seeing Omos and Bron Breakker in the ring.

The changes to the commentary team have come in light of SmackDown commentator Kevin Patrick being released by WWE. Michael Cole filled in for Patrick last week on SmackDown. It remains unclear whether Cole’s former RAW commentary partner Wade Barrett will move to SmackDown to join Corey Graves. Check here for the updated list of WWE commentators.
