Becky Lynch Wins Battle Royal, Becomes Women’s World Champion

Becky Lynch Women's World Champion

Becky Lynch has become the new WWE Women’s World Champion by winning the Battle Royal on WWE RAW April 22, 2024 episode.

The title was vacated by Rhea Ripley last week due to a shoulder injury she suffered two weeks earlier after an attack from Liv Morgan. A battle royal was announced for this week’s RAW episode in order to crown the new champion.

Becky Lynch got the “single camera shot promo and entrance” treatment this week as she entered for the main event Battle Royal. The match was not easy for her though as she was pulled out of the ring by Piper Niven and got beaten up at ringside before Nia Jax dropped Piper on top of her with a chokeslam and a Samoan Drop. As the table did not break with both these moves, Nia then put Becky through the table with a powerbomb.

In the ring, Maxxine Dupri was one of the stars as she eliminated Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell among others before taking on Nia single handedly. Nia was able to eliminate her easily though before she cleared the ring of Chelsea Green, Natalya, Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark.

Liv Morgan and Nia Jax were left standing in the ring before Becky Lynch recovered to join them. Becky and Liv had to work together to eliminate Nia before they fought to the apron. Becky held onto the ropes when Liv hit Oblivion and went on to hit her with the Manhandle Slam to eliminate her.

This is the seventh World title reign for Becky Lynch in WWE. She had won SmackDown Women’s Championship and RAW Women’s Championship 3 times each before this. She had also won NXT Women’s Championship and WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship in the past.

Becky challenged Rhea Ripley for the same title two weeks back on night 1 of WrestleMania XL, but failed to win.
