NXT Announces Return of Breakout Tournament

NXT Breakout Tournament 2021

NXT has announced the second NXT Breakout Tournament to be held this year for the new talent on the roster.

During this week’s NXT episode, the announcement was made that the Breakout tournament will start from the 13 July episode of NXT.

The main draw will have eight wrestlers who will battle in a knockout tournament. The winner will get the NXT Championship title shot at the time of his choosing. The participants are not revealed yet. However, there have been some reports for the qualifying matches for the tournament.

Wrestling Inc. reported that two qualifying matches were taped for the tournament, which will air at this week’s 205 Live. Guru Raaj vs Andre Chase, and Desmond Troy vs Joe Gacy were the matches to be taped for the show.

Additionally, WWE Developmental athletes Carmelo Hayes and Ikemen Jiro have requested to be added to the tournament via Twitter. Parker Boudreaux also replied to the tweet with the word “Breakout”, but he deleted the tweet soon.

NXT held the first Breakout Tournament back in 2019. Jordan Myles won the tournament, which also saw the likes of NXT North American Champion Isaiah “Swerve” Scott, Bronson Reed,  Angel Garza, Dexter Lumis, Boa, Cameron Grimes, and Joaquin Wilde.

Keep tuned in for more updates on the NXT Breakout Tournament.
