MJF vs Sammy vs Jungle Boy vs Darby Set For AEW Double or Nothing 2023
AEW World Championship match at AEW Double or Nothing 2023 event is turned into a fatal 4-way match.
MJF, the reigning champion, will now have to defend the title against Jungle Boy “Jack Perry”, Darby Allin and Sammy Guevara in AEW 4 Pillars match at the PPV on May 28, 2023.
The match at DON was earlier set as a singles match between MJF and Guevara. A tag team match was set between the teams of Perry and Allin vs MJF and Guevara, and if Perry and Allin won, the match at Double or Nothing would be turned into a fatal 4-way.
The match took place in the main event of this week’s Dynamite episode where a misunderstanding between MJF and Guevara led to Sammy shoving MJF into the corner. Perry then fought back to hit big blow to Guevara’s neck before Allin took a blind tag to hit Coffin drop on Guevara to get the pinfall on Sammy.
Originally, AEW announced a 4-pillars tournament with Perry, Guevara and Allin being tied as the #1 contender to face MJF. Darby Allin got a bye in the first round and was sent into the final directly while Guevara and Perry had to fight each other for a place in the final.
MJF struck a deal with Guevara by offering him a blank cheque where Guevara has to win the 4-pillars tournament and then lay down for him at Double or Nothing to give an easy win to MJF. MJF helped Guevara win against Perry via count out and then against Allin via disqualification.
However, Tony Khan then announced that due to the nature of finish in both matches, Allin and Perry would get another chance to get a place in the world title match and this tag team match was set.
