Pillars Tournament AEW Double or Nothing

AEW has announced a Pillar’s Tournament to find the #1 contender to face AEW World Champion MJF at AEW Double or Nothing 2023 PPV.

Since the aftermath of Revolution 2023 PPV, Jungle Boy Jack Perry, Darby Allin and Sammy Guevara are after an AEW World title shot against MJF. All four of them, called 4 Pillars of AEW, have been watching each other closely during matches, and all 3 challengers have won every one of their respective singles matches since Revolution.

This week on AEW Dynamite April 19 episode, Jungle Boy, Darby and Guevara were out in the ring for a promo segment and took shots at each other. MJF came out and made an announcement on behalf of Tony Khan. As all 3 of them were tied up in the rankings, Tony Khan has decided to hold a Pillars tournament to find MJF’s challenger for Double or Nothing 2023.

MJF also revealed that one of them would get a bye in first round and it would be decided by pulling out names from a hat. MJF ended up pulling out Darby Allin’s name, leading to Guevara and Perry clashing in a singles match this week on Dynamite and the winner proceeding to face Darby next week. Later in the show, Guevara accepted a blank cheque from MJF if was able to make it to Double or Nothing and laid out for him.

Perry vs Guevara match headlined Dynamite this week. After a hard-fought back-and-forth match, Guevara hit a dropkick on Perry on the top rope and sent Perry crashing through the timekeeper’s table. The referee started a countdown on Perry, but he was able to get up at 7.

Guevara distracted the referee at this point and MJF ran over Perry with his dynamite diamond ring. After dealing with Guevara, the referee resumed the countdown which Perry failed to answer and Guevara was declared the winner.

Guevara will now face Darby on next week’s Dynamite and the winner of that match will challenge MJF at Double or Nothing 2023 for AEW World Championship. Double or Nothing is set to take place on May 28, 2023, in Las Vegas, NV.
