Bianca Belair vs Iyo Sky RAW Women’s Title Set for WWE Backlash 2023
WWE has announced that Bianca Belair will defend WWE RAW Women’s Championship against Iyo Sky at Backlash 2023 event.
Iyo Sky became the #1 contender for the RAW Women’s title two weeks back on RAW when she defeated Piper Niven and Mia Yim in a triple threat match. Bayley was earlier supposed to be in the match, but her Damage CTRL teammates Sky and Dakota Kai asked her to give them opportunities instead.
Bayley then allowed either of them to take her spot in the match, and Sky turned out to be the one taking the spot. After the match was announced, Bayley, Sky and Kai confronted Bianca during a backstage interview during this week’s RAW episode. They ended up challenging her to a trios match.
Bianca brought in WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez to face Damage CTRL trio. After a back-and-forth match, Bianca hit Bayley with KOD to get the pinfall for the win.
WWE Backlash 2023 is set for May 6 in Puerto Rico. Bad Bunny vs Damian Priest match was also announced for the show on Monday. Brock Lesnar vs Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins vs Omos are some of the other matches on the show.
SmackDown Women’s Championship match between Rhea Ripley and Zelina Vega is also set for the show. A trios match between The Bloodline and Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens and Matt Riddle is also announced for Backlash.
