MJF said they did not fight twice in one night for nothing and will hold onto these titles until Cole comes back from injury. He then announced that he would take on The Righteous in a 2-on-1 handicap match at AEW WrestleDream PPV to defend their ROH Tag Team Championship.
Cole got injured last week at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam when he ran out to save MJF from a post-match attack from Samoa Joe. While jumping off the ramp, Cole landed awkwardly on his leg. He was reportedly taken to hospital for scans immediately after the show.
The Righteous became the #1 contenders at Rampage Grand Slam by winning a 4-way tag team match, beating the likes of The Kingdom, The Hardys and Best Friends. Their title shot was confirmed for WrestleDream before the extent of Cole’s injury was revealed.
AEW WrestleDream 2023 PPV event is scheduled for October 1, 2023, at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, WA. Ricky Starks vs Wheeler Yuta match was also added to the event today.
