Janibek Alimkhanuly vs Steven Butler Results Live, Card, Time
Janibek Alimkhanuly defended WBO Middleweight Championship against Steven Butler on May 13, 2023, in Stockton, CA.
Alimkhanuly won the interim title by beating Danny Dignum in May 2022, but was promoted as the champion in August 2022 after Demetrius Andrade vacated the title. He defended the title for the second time after a win over Denzel Bentley in November 2022.
Butler got the title shot here after Jamie Munguia and Liam Smith could not take the fight. He was on a 4-fights winning streak, which all came in 2022. Was he able to carry on with the momentum?
The co-main event was for the vacant WBO Bantamweight title as Australia’s Jason Moloney battled Philippines’ Vincent Astrolabio. Moloney was on the card of both Davin Haney vs George Kambosos Jr. events and came out on the winning side comfortably both times. Astrolabio was also on a winning run since 2019. The title was vacated by Naoya Inoue earlier this year.
The 3-fights main card started at 10 PM ET on ESPN and also featured a lightweight bout between Gabriel Flores Jr. and Derrick Murray. The prelims was on ESPN+ streaming from 6:45 PM ET onwards.
