Report: Devin Haney vs Ryan Garcia Agreed for April 20 in Las Vegas
Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia have reportedly agreed to fight for Haney’s WBC Super Lightweight Championship.
Mike Coppinger of ESPN has reported that Haney and Garcia have struck a deal for a fight on April 20 in Las Vegas, NV.
Garcia earlier tweeted that he had instructed his team to make a fight against Haney, followed by Haney’s confirmation that talks were on. However, he pivoted to a bout against Isaac Cruz, but Cruz is now facing Rolando Romero. The talks restarted late last month it seems and the deal is struck now.
Devin Haney is coming off winning WBC Super Lightweight Championship from Regis Prograis in December last year. This was his super lightweight debut after he vacated undisputed lightweight titles. Haney is unbeaten so far with 31 wins so far.
Ryan Garcia lost to Gervonta Davis in a 136 lbs catchweight bout via knockout in April 2023 in the biggest boxing event of the year with 1.2 million PPVs sold. He bounced back from this loss by beating Oscar Duarte in December.
Both men have previously stated intentions to hold sweep all the titles at super lightweight division. A win here would go a long to present them as serious contenders.
