Terence Crawford Stripped off IBF Title, Jarod Ennis Promoted

Terence Crawford has lost his status as the undisputed welterweight champion of the world.

Without an official press release or statement, Terence Crawford has been removed from the IBF’s latest rankings at 147 pounds. Jaron Ennis is now recognized as the full champion, and both the no. 1 and no. 2 contender positions are currently vacant.

IBF later confirmed that they have stripped Crawford as IBF Welterweight Champion since he was unable to face mandatory Jaron Ennis next with Errol Spence Jr. activating rematch clause against him.

Jaron Ennis, boasting a 31-0 record with 28 knockouts, stands out as a highly promising talent in boxing. His latest match against Roiman Villa saw him successfully defend his Interim IBF World Welterweight Title.

Terence Crawford added the IBF, WBA, and WBC 147-lb belts in July, defeating Spence Jr. with a ninth-round TKO. He was already holding WBO World title in the division, and this win made him the first men’s boxer in the 4-belt era to become a two-division undisputed champion. Crawford was previously the undisputed champion in super lightweight division also.

It’s now believed that Crawford is transitioning to the 154-lb weight class for a rematch with Spence in early 2024. It will be interesting to see if any other federation also decides to strip him off the titles if he fights Spence at super welterweight.
