Rey Mysterio Puts Dominik to His Place at WWE WrestleMania 39
WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio puts his son Dominik Mysterio in his place as he defeated him in a singles match at WWE WrestleMania 39.
Storyline
Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio used to be the perfect father-son duo who even won the tag team titles together. However, Dominik turned on his dad at Clash at the Castle 2022 and aligned himself with Judgment Day. After suffering insults and torture week in week out, Rey Mysterio decided to move to SmackDown to avoid facing Dominik.
However, it wasn’t long before Dominik chased his father to SmackDown, and started insulting and provoking him there. He even challenged his father to a match at WrestleMania 39. But, Rey refused to wrestle and put his hands on his own son. On the March 24 episode of SmackDown, Rey’s wife appeared. Dom went to ask his mom for her permission to wrestle his father. But when Dominik called her stupid and a deadbeat mom, Rey had had enough and the WWE Hall of Famer finally hit Dominik and accepted to face him at the shows of shows.

Dominik Mysterio makes his entrance as a prisoner inside a police van, handcuffed and accompanied by several cops. He is also wearing Rey Mysterio’s mask that he takes out before entering the ring. On the other hand, Rey Mysterio makes his entrance in a car alongside Snoop Dogg, and that too on the late great Eddie Guerrero’s theme song. Rey comes to the ring and his entrance theme hits.
The father and the son stare at each other before kicking things off. Dominik pushes his father as soon as the bell rings. Dominik tries to overpower Rey, but the latter sends him out of the ring. Dominik enters the ring and pushed Rey again, but this time Rey replies with the same. Dominik drops Rey with a tackle and the latter replies with a hurricanrana.
Dominik slaps Rey before Rey sends Dominik to the second turnbuckle with another hurricanrana. Rey takes out his belt and spanks Dominik. The latter goes outside the ring and slaps his sister. She becomes furious and when Rey tries to stop hir, Dominik takes advantage and hits Rey.
They are back in the ring and now Dominik controls the match. Dominik puts Rey in the sidearm lock. Rey tries to fight back, but Dominik stops and hits him with a Michinoku driver. Dominik gets outside and slides Rey as well. Dominik stares at Aliyah again who slaps him this time. Rey takes advantage and pushes Dominik to the barricade.
Rey Mysterio tries to take control again but he is distracted by the arrival of Finn Balor and Damian Priest. Rey charges at Dom but the latter counters it and sends Rey to the lower turnbuckle. Dominik mocks Rey and goes for three amigos but Rey stops him after the first one and sends him to the rope. Rey hits 619 and goes to the top rope, but at the same time Finn distracts the referee and Damian stops Rey.
The two go outside the ring when Damian and Finn measure Rey. However, Legado del Fantasma comes to the aid of Rey Mysterio and takes out Priest & Balor. Dom and Rey get back inside and Dom hit him with a clothesline. It is followed by a 619 and a frog splash for a near fall.
Dominik Mysterio picks up Damian Priest and takes out the steel chain. However, Bad Bunny snatches the chain from Dom. Rey dropkicks Dom and hits him with a 619 followed by a frog splash to get the pinfall.
