NXT No Mercy: Dominik vs Williams Title Bout Set, Dragon Lee as Referee
Dominik Mysterio will defend his NXT North American title against Trick Williams at NXT No Mercy 2023 PLE.
Before September 26 episode of NXT went on air, Shawn Michaels tweeted about a triple threat match between Axiom, Tyler Bate, Williams, and Dragon Lee to determine the #1 contender for the North American title. Previously, Mustafa Ali was set to face Dominik at NXT No Mercy, but WWE removed Ali from the roster.
During the main event of the episode, Trick Williams managed to win the #1 contender match and booked his spot for the NXT No Mercy 2023 PLE. During the same episode, Williams also defeated Joe Gacy in a one-on-one match.

If he wins, it would be the first singles title victory in Trick Williams’ career. Dominik Mysterio recently defended his NXT North American title against Dragon Lee on the September 25 episode of RAW.
Dragon Lee also attacked Dominik Mysterio backstage after the match on NXT. Later, it was announced that Dragon Lee would serve as the special guest referee for the match between Dominik and Williams.
Previously, Dominik was the referee in the #1 contender match between Mustafa Ali and Dragon Lee and cost Lee the match with a fast-count to deprive him of a title shot.
NXT No Mercy is scheduled for September 30, 2023, and it will be live from Mechanics Bank Arena in Bakersfield, CA. NXT Heritage Cup will also be on the line during the event where Noam Dar is set to face Butch.
