WWE RAW Updates: New Day Return, Nakamura Eyeing Champion & More
WWE’s August 7 episode of RAW featured some exciting moments, a return, and some thrilling developments. The highlights included The New Day’s comeback, Shinsuke Nakamura eyeing a title shot, Chad Gable becoming the #1 contender for the Intercontinental Championship, and Shayna Baszler emerging victorious against Zoey Stark.
New Day Return
During the August 7 episode of RAW, The Viking Raiders (Erik and Ivar) made an open challenge. In an unexpected moment, The New Day(Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) returned and secured a victory against The Viking Raiders.
Kofi Kingston was out because of an ankle injury. Kingston wrestled his last match on the February 24, 2023, episode of SmackDown, where he defeated LA Knight. Xavier Woods has been out of action since the May 15 episode of RAW, where he lost to Dominik Mysterio.

As a Tag Team, The New Day fought their last match at WWE NXT Vengeance Day 2023 PPV event, where they lost their NXT Tag Team titles to Gallus (Mark Coffey and Wolfgang) in a Fatal 4-way match. They have also made their title intentions clear once again in a backstage segment after their win.
Chad Gable Become #1 Contender for Intercontinental Championship
On the August 7 episode of RAW, Adam Pearce announced a four-way #1 contender’s match for the Intercontinental Championship between Tommaso Ciampa vs Ricochet vs Chad Gable, vs Matt Riddle.
During the match, the hometown hero of Minneapolis, Chad Gable emerged victorious by executing Chaos Theory on Ciampa to get the pinfall. Chad Gable is now set to face Gunther for his Intercontinental Championship.
Gunther recently defeated Drew McIntyre for the Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam 2023 PLE.
Shayna Baszler Continues Winning Run
On the August 7 episode of RAW, Zoey Stark was scheduled to face Shayna Baszler in a one-on-one match. During the match, Stark attacked Baszler’s injured hand, but Baszler managed to win the match by executing the world’s baddest slam.
Shayna Baszler recently defeated Ronda Rousey at SummerSlam 2023 PLE in an MMA rule match. She was also involved in promo segment with Becky Lynch and Zoey before the match. Later, she also told Becky that she has a score to settle with her.
Shinsuke Nakamura Attacks Seth Rollins
The main event of RAW was a 6-man tag team match where The Judgement Day (Finn Balor, Damian Priest, and Dominik Mystrio) was set to face Sami Zayn, Seth Rollins, and Cody Rhodes, however, during the middle of the episode, JD McDonagh attacked Sami Zayn to leave him injured. Shinsuke Nakamura then offered his services, which Rollins gladly accepted.
Rollins, Rhodes, and Nakamura successfully defeated The Judgement Day in the main event. However, after the post-match, Nakamura suddey hit Rollins with Kinshasa to made his title intentions clear.
Nakamura also defeated Bronson Reed in a singles match earlier on the show.
