Ronda Rousey vs Shayna Baszler WWE SummerSlam 2023 Live Blog

Shayna Baszler overcomes Ronda Rousey in a MMA Rules match at WWE Summerslam 2023. Tune in below for our live blog where we post updates from the match.

Storyline

Shayna Baszler turned on Ronda Rousey during the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles bout at Money in the Bank which resulted in Liv & Raquel becoming the new champions. The following week, Shayna had a verbal war with Ronda where she stated that Ronda has everything on a silver platter whereas she actually had to make a place for herself in WWE.

After weeks of brawl, Ronda Rousey revealed that she finally got Shayna booked for SummerSlam as these two former MMA stars would now face each other in an MMA rules match.

Live Blog

Ronda Rousey makes her entrance first whereas Shayna Baszler walks out second. 

The referee instructs them about the rules and they start with several back-and-forth takedowns. After some side kicks, Shayna connects a high kick which drops Ronda and she rolls out of the ring. 

Ronda returns but Shayna locks the kneebar. After a while, Ronda breaks the submission. Ronda connects a running knee to Shayna’s face. 

The referee pauses the match, and when it starts Ronda locks the armbar. Shayna pulls Ronda over the ropes to break the submission. 

They get back inside, the referee checks on Shayna and calls the officials inside the ring. Ronda throws them away as Shayna gets back to her feet and engages in a fight with Ronda again. 

After some back-and-forth punches, Shayna hits the German Suplex and tries to lock the Kirifuda clutch. Ronda counters and tries to go for the armbar. 

Shayna does not let her lock the armbar and counters with an ankle lock. Ronda counters with a sleeper hold. Shayna rolls out and then locks Ronda in the Kirifuda Clutch once again. Ronda eventually fades outs and Shayna wins the match.
