WWE NXT Gold Rush: Corbin & Hayes Face Off & Thea Hail Pep Rally Set

WWE announced a new match and multiple segments for night 1 of WWE NXT Gold Rush 2023 special event.

Baron Corbin will be face to face with Carmelo Hayes while Duke Hudson will throw Thea Hail a Chase University pep rally. Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson will face Yulisa Leon and Valentina Feroz in a tag team match.

On the 13 June episode of NXT, Baron Corbin defeated Ilja Dragunov and became the number contender for the NXT championship match. Corbin is set to challenge for the title on night 2 of Gold Rush, but they will come face-to-face this week to promote the match.

Although he is on the main roster for the last 7 years, Corbin is now a free agent and can fight on any of WWE’s brands. He is also scheduled to fight on June 23 episode of SmackDown, where he will face Cameron Grimes.

Duke Hudson has planned a Chase-U pep rally for Thea Hail. This rally aims to provide support to Thea Hail as she is going to face Tiffany Stratton for NXT Women’s Championship Match in the second week of the NXT Gold Rush special event. Thea Hail got the opportunity by winning a battle royale on June 6 episode of NXT.

Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson will face Yulisa Leon and Valentina Feroz in a tag team match. This match was officially announced because these teams got into an altercation during the Heritage Cup match between Nathan Frazer and Oro Mensah.

Night 1 of NXT Gold Rush also has Seth Rollins defending World Heavyweight Championship along with a #1 contender’s match for NXT Tag Team title, and Mustafa Ali officiating a match between Wes Lee and Tyler Bate for North American Championship.
