WWE NXT Gold Rush 2023

WWE presented NXT Gold Rush 2023 event weekly special over two nights on June 20, 2023, and June 27, 2023. The event aired from WWE Peformance Center in Orlando, FL, just like other NXT weekly episodes. The event featured all the titles in NXT over the two nights of action.

Seth Rollins vs Bron Breakker match for World Heavyweight Championship headlined night 1 of the show. NXT title match between Carmelo Hayes and Baron Corbin headlined night 2 of the show.

NIGHT 1 MATCH CARD

Wes Lee(c) vs Tyler Bate – NXT North American Championship(Mustafa Ali as Guest Referee)

Tyler Bate helped out Wes Lee in fending off attacks from ringside while also introducing him to meditation. After Bate and Lee defeated The Dyad, Joe Gacy claimed that Bate was a friend in disguise and wanted a shot at Lee’s North American title. Bate admitted the title shot part but he claimed that he was a genuine friend. Lee retained the title against Gacy and Bate at Battleground 2023. Bate was able to convince Lee that he was a true friend to him. Bate and Lee defeated The Dyad once again on NXT June 6 episode. Mustafa Ali arrived at NXT during this match and saved Bate and Lee from a post-match attack from Gacy. Ali, Bate & Lee defeated Schism in a trios match on NXT June 13 episode. Later in a backstage segment, Ali announced that a match between Bate and Lee where Ali would be the special guest referee.

Brooks Jensen & Josh Briggs vs Edris Enofé & Malik Blade vs Hank Walker & Tank Ledger – #1 Contender for NXT Tag Team Championship

Claiming that the same exercise proved beneficial for them, Jensen & Briggs put Walker & Ledger upto battling each other in a ring in order to increase their bonding. Enofé and Blade were also convinced for the same and they clashed on NXT June 13 episode with Enofé getting the win. Later, these 3 teams were backstage when it was announced that they would clash on Night 1 of Gold Rush with the winner facing Gallus for the title on Night 2. This led to a brawl between these teams.

Dana Brooke vs Cora Jade

Dana Brooke arrived to NXT on June 6 episode to participate in NXT Women’s Championship #1 Contender’s Battle Royal. Dana and Cora Jade were the last wrestlers to be eliminated from the match by Thea Hail while they were fighting each other near the ropes. The following week, Jade interrupted Dana’s interview backstage and blamed her for her elimination. When Dana asked her not to blame her, Jade slapped her. Dana later cost Jade a match against Thea Hail. WWE then announced a match between Dana and Jade for night 1 of Gold Rush.

Valentina Feroz & Yulisa Leon vs Jakara Jackson & Lash Legends

Jakara Jackson and Lash Legends were interfering in the match between Nathan Frazer and Oro Mensah when Valentina Feroz and Yulisa Leon attacked them. A tag team is now announced for the show.

Winner – Jakara Jackson & Lash Legends

Seth “Freakin” Rollins(c) vs Bron Breakker – World Heavyweight Championship

In the closing minute of NXT June 6 episode, Bron Breakker called out Seth Rollins to come to NXT and defend World Heavyweight Championship against him. The following week, Rollins appeared on the big screen via video and accepted Breakker’s challenge. Shawn Michaels then announced that Rollins would defend the title against Breakker in the main event of night 1 of Gold Rush.

NIGHT 2 MATCH CARD

Tiffany Stratton(c) vs Thea Hail – NXT Women’s Championship

Thea Hail won the NXT Women’s Champion #1 Contender Battle Royal on June 6 episode of NXT. WWE announced that she would get her title shot on night 2 of NXT Gold Rush.

Winner – Tiffany Stratton

Gallus(Mark Coffey and Wolfgang)(c) vs Edris Enofé & Malik Blade – NXT Tag Team Championship

WWE announced a #1 contender triple threat match for NXT Tag Team Championship to take place on night 1 of Gold Rush. The winner of that match would challenge the reigning champions Gallus on night 2. The match was won by Edris Enofé & Malik Blade.

Nathan Frazer(c) vs Dragon Lee – NXT Heritage Cup

Dragon Lee unsuccessfully challenged Noam Dar for Heritage Cup at Battleground 2023 where Nathan Frazer was in Lee’s corner. After Dar got injured, Frazer defeated his representative Oro Mensah to win Heritage Cup on June 13 episode of NXT. On night 1 of Gold Rush, Frazer told Lee that he deserved the first shot at Heritage Cup now that he was the champion.

Kiana James vs Gigi Dolin

Gigi Dolin and Kiana James started feuding during a Battle Royal on June 6 NXT episode where James eliminated Dolin. On night 1 of Gold Rush, A video package aired for Gigi Dolin. After this, James took shots at Dolin for being reckless and immature. WWE later confirmed a singles match between them.

Winner – Gigi Dolin

Carmelo Hayes(c) vs Baron Corbin – NXT Championship

Baron Corbin attacked NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes from behind to close NXT May 30 episode. The following week, Corbin said the current generation was soft before his promo was interrupted by Ilja Dragunov who challenged him for a match. Dragunov was attacked backstage by Bron Breakker after this segment. On June 13 NXT episode, Shawn Michaels turned this match into a #1 contender’s match. Breakker attacked Dragunov during the match, leading to Corbin winning the match.
