WWE Money in the Bank 2023 event is a Premium Live event from WWE which took place on July 1, 2023. The event aired from The O² Arena in London, UK.

The event featured traditional Money in the Bank ladder matches for men and women divisions. A Bloodline Civil War tag team match and 3 title matches were also on the car.d

EVENT NOTES

• This was the 14th event in the Money in the Bank series from WWE, which took place in July month in 10 out of 14 years. Also, this was the 9th PLE for WWE in the year 2023.
• This was the first time that the MITB event takes place outside US. Also, this was the first major WWE event to take place in London since Insurexxion in 2002.
• This event was announced on January 5, 2023.
• Tickets went on sale on February 24 and were sold out within the first few minutes of the main sale. Additional tickets were released for the event in May and June .
• This was announced to be highest-grossing Money in the Bank event until now as well as the highest-grossing arena event in WWE history.
• The attendance was announced to be 18,885.
• This event created records for gross in sponsorship, merchandise and social media numbers for Money in the Bank events.

MATCH CARD

Ricochet vs Shinsuke Nakamura vs LA Knight vs Santos Escobar vs Butch vs Damian Priest vs Logan Paul – Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match

The traditional men’s Money in the Bank ladder match was on the card for the show where the winner earned a contract to challenge for the Universal Championship or World Heavyweight Championship at the time and place of his choosing. WWE held qualifiers to determine the participants of this match, which were as below:

• Ricochet defeated The Miz.
• Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Bronson Reed.
• LA Knight defeated Montez Ford
• Santos Escobar defeated Mustafa Ali
• Butch defeated Baron Corbin
• Damian Priest defeated Matt Riddle
• Logan Paul was added via a special invitation

Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler(c) vs Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez – WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship

Liv Morgan’s injury led to Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez relinquishing WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships. Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler won the titles on RAW May 29 episode in a data 4-way tag team match. Ronda & Shayna unified the titles with NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship by beating Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn on June 23 SmackDown episode. Raquel was on the commentary table during the title unification match and was called out by Ronda. Liv Morgan made her return to confront the champions and stake their claim for the titles. WWE made the match official during the following SmackDown LowDown episode. Ronda defeated Raquel in a singles match on June 26 episode of RAW.

Gunther(c) vs Matt Riddle – WWE Intercontinental Championship

As their rivalry continued, Matt Riddle was confronted by Imperium’s Giovanni Vinci & Ludwig Kaiser backstage on RAW June 5 episode. Riddle ended up injuring Vinci in the resulting brawl with an ankle lock. Matt Riddle lost the men’s MITB qualifier against Damian Priest on June 12 episode. Intercontinental Champion Gunther and Kaiser attacked Riddle after that match. Later that night, Riddle saved Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens from a post match attack. Riddle defeated Kaiser on June 19 episode. Riddle challenged Gunther for a title match at Money in the Bank backstage on June 26 episode. Kaiser interrupted him and engaged him in a brawl. Gunther then attacked Riddle’s ankle with a stomp before accepting the challenge.

Cody Rhodes vs Dominik Mysterio

Cody Rhodes was the special guest in the Miz TV segment on RAW June 5 episode, where Miz also brought out Dominik Mysterio and Rhea Ripley. Dominik called Cody a deadbeat dad just like his father Rey Mysterio. Cody replied by calling Dominik a mistake. Dominik started to leave but took a cheap shot at Cody before running away. The following week, Cody interrupted Rhea and Dominik during Women’s World Championship presentation. Cody challenged Dominik for a match at Money in the Bank. Rhea accepted the challenge on Dominik’s behalf.

Zelina Vega vs Becky Lynch vs Zoey Stark vs Bayley vs Iyo Sky vs Trish Stratus – Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match

Same as the men’s division, the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match also took place at this event with the winner earning a contract to challenge for WWE Women’s Championship or Women’s World Championship at the time and place of her choosing. The qualifier matches were as below:

• Zelina Vega defeated Lacey Evans
• Becky Lynch defeated Sonya Deville
• Zoey Stark defeated Natalya
• Bayley defeated Michin’
• Iyo Sky defeated Shotzi
• Trish Stratus defeated Raquel Rodriguez

Seth Rollins(c) vs Finn Balor – World Heavyweight Championship

Finn Balor called out Seth Rollins on RAW June 12 episode and brought Rollins injuring him during the match for inaugural Universal Championship match in 2016. Balor then challenged Rollins for a match for World Heavyweight Championship at Money in the Bank. Rollins gladly accepted the challenge. Balor attacked Rollins to stop him from an open challenge match on RAW June 19 episode and hit him with 3 Coupe De Grace. Balor also attacked Rollins after his match at NXT Gold Rush on June 20, 2023.

Winner: Seth Rollins

Roman Reigns & Solo Sikoa vs The Usos(Jimmy Uso & Jey Uso) – Bloodline Civil War

The Usos ended up costing Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa in the match Undisputed Tag Team Championship at Night of Champions when they accidentally hit Solo Sikoa with a double superkick before Jimmy turned on Roman Reigns. Jey Uso was given a choice to side either with Jimmy or Roman in this war. Jey ultimately decided to side with Jimmy during the confrontation on SmackDown June 16 episode. A civil war match was later announced within the Bloodline.
