Kenny Omega

New information has emerged regarding Kenny Omega’s sickness and how it’s impacting the creative strategies for AEW’s future plans.

On December 15, Kenny Omega used his Twitter account to declare an indefinite absence, explaining that he had attempted to endure discomfort for an extended period until it became unbearable.

He expressed gratitude that doctors intervened when they did and mentioned his hospital stay for the time being. Alongside the message, he posted a photo of himself resting in a hospital bed.

Although Kenny Omega did not explicitly mention what was ailing him, Dave Meltzer revealed on Wrestling Observer Radio that the cause behind Omega’s absence was a “serious” illness, specifically identified as Diverticulitis.

In a recent update, Fightful Select had expanded on Omega’s diagnosis, disclosing the timing of when Omega started experiencing discomfort and outlining the impact it had on AEW’s plans for him.

Omega and Chris Jericho are slated to compete at AEW Worlds End 2023 PPV, aiming to challenge Ricky Starks and Big Bill for AEW Tag Team Championship. The report highlights that he has been excluded from AEW’s immediate plans. As of now, there is no specified timeline for Omega’s comeback.

As per the report, Omega experienced discomfort before his bout against Ethan Page on the December 9 episode of AEW Collision. Nonetheless, he purportedly chose to keep this information private and proceeded to compete in the match despite feeling unwell.

Omega also made an appearance on December 13 Dynamite, joining Chris Jericho to confront Ricky Starks and Big Bill. Backstage witnesses noticed Omega wasn’t at his best. Despite this, he chose to push through and continue his duties despite not feeling optimal.

Tony Khan commented on Omega’s illness during ROH Final Battle press conference, expressing his well wishes for Omega and acknowledging that the extent of Omega’s pain was not widely known.
