Tetsuya Naito & Zack Sabre Jr. Qualify for NJPW G1 Climax 33 Quarters
Tetsuya Naito and Zack Sabre Jr have qualified for the quarterfinals of the NJPW G1 Climax 33 tournament from Block D.
The league phase matches for Block D from G1 Climax 33 ended on night 16 on August 9 in Shizuoka, Japan. Naito secured the first position in the group, while Zack Sabre Jr. came in second.
Naito concluded the evening by securing a victory against Hiroshi Tanahashi. Naito ended the tournament with a record of 5 wins and 2 losses, accumulating a total of 10 points.

Zack Sabre Jr. defeated Hirooki Goto to secure the second position with a record of 5 wins and 2 losses. Zack Sabre Jr. is currently the NJPW World Television Champion.
Naito secured a higher standing than Zack Sabre Jr due to his victory at the August 2 NJPW G1 Climax 33 Night 12 event, where he defeated Zack Sabre Jr.
Jeff Cobb was also in the hunt to qualify for the quarterfinals with a straight win. He was facing Sabre’s stablemate Shane Haste, who ended up securing a draw via countout and made way for Sabre’s qualification.
In the group of eight, Naito is set to take on Hikuleo, who secured the second position in A Block. Whereas Zack Sabre Jr. will go one-on-one with Kazuchika Okada, the winner of B Block.
The quarterfinals are scheduled for August 10, where David Finlay is also set to face Will Ospreay. On the other hand, Evil will go one-on-one against Sanada. The semifinals are set for August 12, followed by the finals on August 13.
