SummerSlam: Jey Uso Demands Trial By Combat vs Roman Reigns

Jey Uso has challenged Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns for a Trial by Combat ahead of SummerSlam 2023.

As the Bloodline Civil War erupted, Jey pinned Roman at Money in the Bank event as The Usos defeated Roman and Solo Sikoa. This was just the second loss for Roman Reigns in the last 3 years since he became Universal Champion. In fact, Jey became the first wrestler to pin Roman since TLC 2019 when King Corbin beat him.

Buoyant by the win, The Usos called Roman Reigns for Trial in the Tribal Court on this week’s SmackDown episode(July 7). The segment opened SmackDown, where The Usos showed all the moments where Roman disrespected them, Solo Sikoa and Paul Heyman. Roman accused The Usos of trying to paint him in bad light by cherry-picking some moments.

Roman replied by saying that he created the Bloodline and Island of Relevancy. He also said he did not need The Bloodline as he was already WrestleMania main eventer before that, but The Bloodline needed him. He carried the burden not for his children, but for all of their children. He did not need any money or any spotlight as is ready to give it up.

Roman then took off the Bloodline’s Red Garland from his shoulders and put them on Jey. He also knelt down in front of Jey only to hit him with a low blow. This started a brawl where Solo and Roman easily took down The Usos. Jimmy Uso took more damage with steel chair shots and was even put through the announce table. He was taken out on a stretcher.

Jey returned to SmackDown for the final segment and was looking for Roman. In the final segment of the show, Jey was able to get the upper hand against Roman and Solo and forced them to run away. Just as Roman was retreating, Jey challenged him to a Trial by Combat while also posing with Universal Championship belt.

Roman vs Jey match is long speculated to take place at SummerSlam 2023. The storyline certainly hints that it is the next match for Roman, but it remains to be made official. Keep tuned in for the latest updates.
