Seth Rollins defeated Finn Balor at WWE Money in the Bank 2023 to retain his WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Check the live updates from the match below.

Storyline

Seth Rollins and Finn Balor reignited their rivalry seven years later after Rollins made Finn relinquish the Universal Title after being the inaugural champion. Rollins defeated Balor in the semi-finals of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship tournament before he became the inaugural champion this time. 

Later, Balor came face-to-face with Rollins and recalled their SummerSlam 2016 match where Rollins injured him and which caused him to vacate the Universal title. Rollins was quick to accept his challenge. On June 26 RAW episode, Balor attacked Rollins before he could defend his title in an open challenge. Balor also attacked Rollins on NXT Gold Rush night 1 after he retained the title against Bron Breakker.

Live Updates

Finn Balor is the first one to make his entrance. The WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Freakin Rollins comes out second. The crowd continues to sing even after Rollins’ theme goes off. 

Seth is wearing a tape on the left side of his rib cage. Balor goes right after Rollins but the latter takes him down. Balor hits a kick to Rollins’s rib before Rollins takes him out of the ring and then hits the suicide dive.  

Rollins slams Balor’s face on the announce table. Balor sends him to the steel steps but Rollins counter and returns with a clothesline. Back to the ring, Finn tries to ambush him on the apron, but Rollins hits the leg drop. 

After some back-and-forth, Rollins tries to hit the pedigree, but Finn counters and hit Rollins with a stomp. Finn takes control of the match and starts working on Rollins’ rib cage. 

Rollins tries to fight back, but Balor drives him into the corner. Balor ties Rollins into the rope before sending him out of the ring with a kick to the stomach. Balor hits several kicks on Rollins’ stomach outside the ring before they return inside. 

Balor delivers shoulders to Rollins’ stomach into the corner. Balor goes for the running shoulder, but Rollins counters with a kick and hits the clothesline. They exchange some blows before Rollins hits a fury of strikes and several kicks to Balor’s face. 

Rollins hits a knee to the spine of Balor followed by a running knee to his face. Rollins measures Balor for the stomp, and Balor counters with a roll-up. Balor again targets Rollins’ mid-section and hit several strikes there. 

Balor measures Rollins and hits the slingblade. Rollins replies with a superkick followed by a buckle bomb. Rollins goes to the top and tries to hit the frog splash but Finn lifts his knees. Finn goes to the top, Rollins joins him there but Finn pushes him away and tries to hit his finisher. 

Rollins avoids it, and tries to hit the stomp, but Finn avoids it. After some back-and-forth strikes from both ends, Rollins hits Balor with the pedigree for two-count. Damian Priest comes to the ringside along with his Money in the Bank briefcase. 

It distracts Rollins and Finn rolls him up with for two-count. Rollins comes out and confronts Damian who takes a chair to sit. Finn catches Rollins with a running kick and then Coup-de-Grace off the announce table and then another one from the apron. 

Back to the ring, Balor drives Rollins to the corner with the running kick and Balor goes to the top. Damian stands up and it distracts Finn, Rollins trips him and then hits him with the stomp to get the pinfall.
