Sami Zayn vs Kevin Owens Set for WWE SmackDown January 13
Sami Zayn will try to make amends with Roman Reigns as he goes one-on-one against Kevin Owens on January 13th WWE SmackDown.
Last week on SmackDown, John Cena returned to WWE to tag with Kevin Owens and defeated Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn. Sami was the one to be pinned by Owens in that match. This was the first loss for The Tribal Chief in more than three years(outside of Disqualification losses).
Roman was evidently angry about the loss as he appeared on this week’s SmackDown and pinned all the blame on Sami. He even went on to say that it was not him who lost, but it was Sami, and vented his frustration in the ring.
Kevin Owens then interrupted them and told Roman that Owens is the problem for Roman instead of Sami. Owens proposed that Roman puts Universal title on the line at Royal Rumble against him. Roman accepted the challenge and the match is set for Royal Rumble 2023 event.
Later, Sami went to Roman’s locker room to apologize for the loss. Roman then replied that Sami’s apology was not necessary as Roman should be the one to apologize for the public outburst. Further, he said he was actually mad at Owens.
With a bit of provoking and guilt-tripping between lines, Paul Heyman took this chance and suggested a match between Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. Sami agreed to face Owens to restore The Bloodline’s honor and make Roman happy.
Intercontinental Championship match is already announced for WWE SmackDown episode of January 13, 2022.
