NXT Announces Gold Rush Special for 6/20 & 6/27, Main Events Revealed
Shawn Michaels announced WWE NXT Gold Rush 2023 special for two weeks for June 20, 2023, and June 27, 2023 episode.
The announcement came during this week’s NXT episode. Michaels also announced the main events for both weeks. In the first week’s main event, Seth will face Bron Breakker for the World Heavyweight Championship. In the second week’s main event, Carmelo Hayes will face Baron Corbin tp defend the NXT championship.
During the June 6 episode of NXT, Bron Breakker challenged Rollins to a match for World Heavyweight Championship. Seth Rollins appeared on the show via video and accepted Breakker’s challenge to face Breakker next week. announced After that, Shawn Michaels made the match official as the main event for night 1 of NXT Gold Rush on June 20.

This will be the first time that a World Heavyweight Championship will be defended on WWE NXT. It will also be Rollins’ third televised title defense of this title. He is the first champion in this title lineage after winning it at Night of Champions 2023 last month. Rollins is also set to defend the title in an open challenge on RAW next week.
Shawn Michaels’ announcement also turned a match between Baron Corbin and Ilja Dragunov on NXT June 13 episode into #1 contender for NXT championship. The winner of that match would challenge Carmelo Hayes in the main event of night 2 of NXT Gold Rush on June 27.
Ilja Dragunov also had an ongoing rivalry with Bron Breakker after Breakker attacked him during June 6 episode of NXT. Baron Corbin was able to beat Dragunov after interference from Breakker. Corbin will now face Carmelo with NXT Championship on the line in the main event Gold Rush 2023 night 2.
Apart from these matches, NXT has also revealed a match between Wes Lee and Tyler Bate for North American Championship with Mustafa Ali as the guest referee. A new #1 contender will be determined for NXT Tag Team Championship in a 3-way tag team match. The winner from this match will face Tag Team Champions Gallus on Night 2. Night 2 will also feature NXT Women’s Championship match between Tiffany Stratton and Thea Hail.
