New WWE Universal Title Belt Revealed on SmackDown June 2 Episode

Undisputed WWE Universal Championship

WWE has awarded a new WWE Universal Championship title belt to Roman Reigns on SmackDown June 2, 2023 episode.

Roman was set to celebrate the completion of 1000 days of his Universal Championship reign at SmackDown this week. While there was the backdrop of the Bloodline splitting, on Thursday, a report came out that WWE would give his a new title belt to commemorate this occasion.

Triple H came out to the ring for the main event segment on June 2 SmackDown edition. He unveiled the new title which is very similar to the current WWE Championship belt but has much more gold than the black background, with the big W still as the centrepiece of the belt. Triple H called this belt as the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

Roman Reigns became Universal Champion on August 30, 2020, by beating The Fiend Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman in a triple threat match at Payback. He has since reigned supreme and defended the title successfully 21 times on televised events. His next title defense is expected to come at SummerSlam 2023 event in August.

With the new title belt introduced, WWE Championship and WWE Universal Championship is also merged into one title – Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. The name has been used ever since Roman unified WWE Championship at WrestleMania 38 by beating Brock Lesnar. But Roman used to carry both titles separately for the past 14 months.

There were rumors that Triple H is planning to bring back the famous Eagles design to Undisputed Universal Championship which is one of the most loved WWE title belts from the Attitude Era. However, the new title is just a slight modification of the current WWE & Universal title belts.
