Hikaru Shida wins AEW Women’s Championship at Dynamite 200

Hikaru Shida defeated Toni Storm on the August 2, 2023, episode of AEW Dynamite to become the new AEW Women’s World Championship.

Shida challenged Storm for the AEW Women’s World Championship August 2 episode of AEW Dynamite, which was also the 200th episode of Dynamite. Shida started strong, firing off rapid shots and dominating the first half of the bout. Shida unleashed some quick punches and delivered a running knee strike to Storm.

Storm took over the control after distractions from The Outcasts – Soho and Saraya, who were at ringside. During the middle of the match, Shida took back control by delivering an enzuigiri and knee strike. Afterward, the Outcasts distracted the referee once again, which resulted in Storm executing a Tornado DDT.

At the end of the match, Saraya tossed a Kendo stick into the ring. Shida seized the opportunity and attacked Ruby Soho and Saraya. The moment when the referee was taking away the stick Storm sprayed paint on Shida’s face and executed Storm one when Storm attempted to pin, Shida reversed and pinned Storm to win the match.

Shida has won this title for the second time. She won it the first time at AEW Double or Nothing 2020 PPV event by defeating Nyla Rose and held the championship for 372 days, which is the longest reign fo the title so far.

Shida is unbeaten in seven singles matches in AEW so far this year. She became the #1 contender by beating Nyla Rose on July 28 episode of Rampage.

Toni Storm won the AEW Women’s World Championship at the AEW Double or Nothing 2023 PPV event by defeating Jamie Hayter.
