Report: Backstage Reaction from WWE as Edge Joins AEW

The behind-the-scenes response within WWE to Adam Copeland, aka Edge, leaving the company to join AEW has recently been revealed.

According to information from Fightful Select, a number of individuals within WWE mentioned that it became apparent to them during the early part of the summer that Copeland would be departing from WWE once his contract expired.

As per Fightful also reported that Copeland left WWE appropriately and on good terms, and if he decided to return in future, he would be welcomed back by the company.

The report concluded by stating that the prevailing sentiment among those within WWE was one of happiness and support for Adam Copeland’s decision.

Copeland made his AEW debut during the closing moments of the WrestleDream PPV on October 1. In the end, he beat up Wayne and Luchasaurus after teasing a reunion with Christian Cage.

Sources also anticipated Copeland’s departure as early as August, before WWE announced his final match against Sheamus on August 18.
