Storyline
The rivalry between Matt Riddle and Gunther started on the May 15 episode of RAW when Riddle competed in the #1 contender battle royal for Intercontinental title and Gunther asked his Imperium mates to beat and eliminate Riddle from the match. Riddle then took Owens and Zayn’s help to defeat the Imperium in a six-man tag team match.
On the June 12 episode of RAW, Gunther, and Kaiser attacked Riddle after he lost against Damian Priest in the MITB qualifying match. Later the same night, Riddle cost Gunther and Kaiser their shot at the WWE Undisputed Tag Team Titles. After facing a lot of attacks from Imperium, Riddle finally challenged Gunther for the Intercontinental Title at Money in the Bank which Gunther accepted.

Matt Riddle makes his entrance first whereas the IC Champion Gunther walks out second.
Gunther starts things off with a chop, Riddle tries to lock the Kimura but Gunther counters it with a slam. Riddle locks the armbar on the ropes and lets it go before the 5-count. Gunther comes back with a big chop.
Gunther takes Riddle in to the corner and hits him with chops, but Riddle fights back with punches. He is fired and now using his offense on Gunther. The latter catches Riddle’s leg and hits him with the dragon screw leg. Gunther starts working on Riddle’s knee and also unwraps the tap.
Riddle tries to fight back with a knee but Gunther reverts with a German Suplex. Gunther puts Riddle in the leg lock, but Riddle breaks the submission by hitting several kicks to his body. Riddle hits Gunther with a slam before the senton, but Gunther converts it into a sleeper hold.
Riddle breaks the hold, Gunther goes for another German suplex, but Riddle counters, Gunther comes up with a nasty clothesline. After some back and forth, Riddle manages to connect the moonsault off the top rope for a near fall. Gunther goes to the top and jumps but Riddle converts into an arm triangle.
Gunther breaks it with a powerbomb. Gunther locks a boston crab before hitting punches on Riddle’s ankle and locks achilles lock to submit Riddle.
After the match, Drew McIntyre comes to ring and stands face-to-face with Gunther. The latter pushes him away before McIntyre hits the Glasgow Kiss followed by a claymore kick.
