Deaner will replace Steve Maclin in a Special Grudge Match at IMPACT Slammiversary 2023.

Maclin was supposed to be teaming up with Bully Ray in a match against Scott D’Amore and PCO at the event. However, he suffered an injury and was announced to be pulled out of the event on Saturday.

Bully Ray announced on the July 11, 2023, edition of Busted Open Radio revealed that Cody Deaner will team up with him now at the Slammiversary event. On July 10, Deaner requested Ray to be his partner, and Ray accepted without any hesitation.

Steve Maclin is out because he got injured during the IMPACT Down Under Tour in Australia. Alex Shelley defeated Maclin for the IMPACT World Championship at the event.

Deaner is the leader of The Design Faction. His stable was not scheduled for the Slammiversary event so far, so Deaner got a chance to be part to this match.

Deaner was also on Busted Open Radio with Bully Ray on Monday and was very critical of Scott D’Amore during the show. Later, he also tweeted that he has hated D’Amore for 20 years, and all that hatred will come out on Slammiversary on July 15.

In another change, PCO’s participation in the match is currently in doubt after he was set on fire on last week’s IMPACT episode. We can expect to hear more on this during this week’s IMPACT TV episode on July 13.
