Blood and Guts 2023: Blackpool Combat Club Challenge The Elite

AEW Blood & Guts

Jon Moxley has challenged The Elite on behalf of the Blackpool Combat Club for the Blood and Guts match.

During the post-event of AEW×NJPW: Forbidden Door PPV, it was officially confirmed that the Blood and Guts event is returning in July. The date was also confirmed during this week’s Dynamite episode.

During June 28, 2023 episode of AEW Dynamite, things got brutal when BCC brutally assaulted The Elite after their win in a trios match over Dark Order. After the assault, Jon Moxley took the mic and expressed that both groups have pushed their limits now, but it was time to go beyond the limit. He then screamed “Blood and Guts” to announce the return of the caged match.

Just after this challenge was put out, the commentary team confirmed that AEW will host this year’s Blood and Guts event at TD Garden in Boston, MA, on July 19, 2023 episode of AEW Dynamite.

Blackpool Combat Club(Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, and Wheeler Yuta) and The Elite(Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson, and “Hangman” Adam Page) have been feuding since April. Both factions have faced each other in consecutive pay-per-view events. At AEW Double or Nothing PPV event, Blackpool Combat Club defeated The Elite in the Anarchy in the Arena match after interferences from Konosuke Takeshita and Don Callis.

At Forbidden Door PPV last week, both teams collided again in a ten-man tag team match. The Elite (“Hangman” Adam Page, Matt Jackson, and Nick Jackson), Eddie Kingston, and Tomohiro Ishii defeated Blackpool Combat Club(Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta, and Claudio Castagnoli), Konosuke Takeshita, and Shota Umino.

Last year, Blackpool Combat Club and Eddie Kingston defeated The Jericho Appreciation Society (Chris Jericho, Jake Hager, Sammy Guevara, Daniel Garcia, Matt Menard, and Angelo Parker) in the Blood and Guts match.
