AEW Battle of the Belts 9 is a TNT Special event which took place on January 13, 2024, at Chartaway Arena in Norfolk, VA. The show followed the Collision episode on the same day at the same venue. As the name suggested, this was the ninth event in Battle of the Belts series which aired exclusively on TNT in United States.

STORYLINE
Ricky Starks & Big Bill vs Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara: Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega were a tag team and earned a shot at the AEW Tag Team Championship by beating The Young Bucks at Full Gear 2023. Their title match was set for Worlds End 2023 PPV, but Omega suffered from diverticulitis and was sidelined for a long time. Chris Jericho reunited with Sammy Guevara after saving Sammy from an assault by Don Callis Family. Starks and Bill also attacked them, only for Sting and Darby Allin to make the save. This set up an 8-man tag team match at Worlds End 2023 PPV. where Jericho, Sammy, Sting & Darby defeated Starks, Bill, Powerhouse Hobbs & Kyle Fletcher. Jericho and Guevara then challenged for tag team titles, which Starks and Bill accepted with the added stipulation of it being a street fight.
Julia Hart vs Anna Jay: Julia Hart and Anna Jay were in opposite teams in an 8-woman tag team match on Dynamite Janaury 10 episode where Jay put Skye Blue in a submission to win the match. Skye and Julia had been seen backing each other in the last few weeks. After the match, AEW announced that Jay would challenge Julia for the title at Battle of the Belts.
Orange Cassidy vs Preston Vance: Orange Cassidy, Preston Vance, Adam Copeland and Dustin Rhodes defeated The Mogul Embassy and Lance Archer in tag team match in held in tribute to Mr. Brodie Lee. Vance got the pinfall on Toa Liona to get the win in the match. Vance was then announced to challenge Cassidy for International title.
LIVE UPDATES
Street Fight for AEW Tag Team Championship opened the show. All 4 men were already brawling in the parking lot as the show started. Both teams were using anything they could find from trash can to hit each other. After Bill dropped Jericho in the dirt, Sammy ran over Bill and Starks with a golf cart. The action then slowly went into the arena through the crowd.
Near the end, Konosuke Takeshita’s interference led to Bill putting Chris Jericho through the table. Sammy set up Starks near the stage and climbed on top of the big screen. As he was coming down, Powerhouse Hobbs pulled Starks away from danger and Sammy went through the stage. Starks covered Sammy to get the pinfall on the stage.
A package aired for Serena Debb who was expected to return soon.
Julia Hart defeated Anna Jay to retain AEW TBS Women’s Championship. Jay got some offense going in the match, but Hart took control and hit her finisher to get the pinfall.
Jay Lethal, Jeff Jarrett and rest of their stable were backstage. Satnam Singh came in and accidentally spit food on Lethal’s face.
Orange Cassidy defeated Preston Vance in the main event match. Roderick Strong and The Kingdom were out at the ringside to watch the match. Vance had the control going into the break. Cassidy hit his strides after the break. Cassidy and Vance took out Strong and the Kingdom with dives before Vance hit a delayed vertical suplex. Cassidy then caught Vance with an Orange Punch to get the pinfall.
