EVENT NOTES

UFC announced in October 2023, that they would hold their first event in Saudi Arabia on March 2, 2024, as part of Riyadh Season. This was supposed to be the first event from UFC in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In January 2024, reports came out that this event was postponed as Saudi Arabian authorities wanted a strong card for the event. The event on March 2 was then shifted to UFC Apex Arena in Las Vegas, NV. Since it was going to be the 87th Fight Night event at the venue, it was also called UFC Vegas 87.

On January 10, Jairzinho Rozenstruik announced via social media that he had signed to face Shamil Gaziev in a heavyweight bout at this event. MMA Reporter Marcel Dorff reported on February 8 that the bout was elevated as the main event. The bout was later officially announced as the main event.

Matt Schnell and Steve Erceg were originally booked to clash at UFC 295, but Schnell withdrew from the bout with unknown reasons. The bout was later re-booked for this event.

Joel Alvarez vs Ludovít Klein lightweight bout was announced for this event. The booking was changed with unknown reasons in late February. Alvarez was moved to face Mateusz Rębecki at UFC Vegas 91 on April 27. Ľudovít Klein was later booked against AJ Cunningham for this event.

Mohammad Yahya vs Brendon Marotte bout was announced for the event. 10 days before the event, it was reported that Marotte had pulled out of the bout due to an injury.

Raul Rosas Jr. vs Ricky Turcois bantamweight bout was set to take place on UFC Mexico City event on February 24, 2024. Rosas pulled out of the bout just before the walkout after suffering from diarrehia. Dana White later announced that the bout was moved to this event. Later, the bout was cancelled from the event with unknown reasons.

Vinicius Oliveira vs Yanis Ghemmouri bantamweight bout was announced for the event. One week before the event, Ghemmouri pulled out of the bout due to an undisclosed injury. AFN Bantamweight Champion Bernardo Sopai was brought in for his UFC debut to face Oliveira.
