EVENT NOTES

Dana White took to social media on November 6, 2023, to announce that Sean O’Malley vs Marlon Vera fight for bantamweight title will take place at UFC 299 in March 2024. UFC website revealed the date of the event to be March 9, 2024. Later, the location was revealed to be Kaseya Center in Miami, FL. Merab Dvalishvilli weighed in as the backup fighter for the main event bantamweight title fight.

During UFC 296 press conference, White announced 4 more bouts for the main card – Michael “Venom” Page vs Kevin Holland, Jack Della Maddalena vs Gilbert Burns, Ian Garry Machado vs Geoff Neal, and Petr Yan vs Song Yadong.

Among these fights, Garry vs Neal bout was first announced for UFC 292, but Neal had to pull out due to injury. Later, Dana White announced that Garry vs Neal was moved to UFC 298.

Lauren Murphy vs Karine Silva flyweight bout was announced for this event. Murphy pulled out of the bout with unknown reasons. Ariana Lipiski was reported as a replacement for Murphy.

CJ Vergara vs Assu Almabayev bout was announced as a flyweight bout. Vergara missed weight at the weigh-in by 1 lbs, and the bout was turned into a catchweight bout at 127 lbs with Vergara paying 30% of his purse as a fine to Almabayev.
