UFC Welterweight Champion Leon “Rocky” Edwards has revealed that his next title defense will come at UFC 300 PPV.

Edwards was at Villa Park in Birmingham, UK, to support his hometown football club Aston Villa on Sunday. During an interview at halftime, Edwards said that he will defend his belt at UFC 300 in Las Vegas.

Edwards also added that he hopes to return to Villa Park as the champion to defend the title in summer of 2024.

He is coming off a title defense against Colby Covington at UFC 296 two weeks back. It is long speculated that #2 ranked UFC welterweight Belal Muhammad is next in line to challenge Edwards for the title.

MMA Reporter Ariel Helwani also tweeted that Edwards’ fight at UFC 300 is slated to be against Muhammad as of now.

UFC 300 is scheduled for April 13, 2024, at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV. 3 blockbuster bouts are already announced for the show in Aljamain Sterling vs Calvin Kattar, Jiri Prochazka vs Alexander Rakic, and Bo Nickal vs Cody Brundage.

UFC has held an event in London in July for the last two years. Edwards was first speculated to defend his title at last year’s event, but those plans did not come to fruition. UFC’s plans to hold an event at Villa Park will also mostly depend on Edwards’ title status.
