EVENT NOTES
On December 15, 2023, UFC announced the dates and location for its key event in the first half of 2024. UFC 300 was announced for April 13 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV. Additionally, UFC President Dana White promised a stacked card along with trying to book Jim Miller for the event who had previously fought at both UFC 100 and UFC 200.
Jamahal Hill vacated UFC Light Heavyweight Championship in August 2023 due to a ruptured ACL injury. Alex Pereira defeated Jiri Prochazka at UFC 295 to win the vacant title. A match between Periera and Hill was reportedly agreed for UFC 301 in Brazil. However, UFC pre-poned this match to headline UFC 300 instead.
Two more title bouts were scheduled for the event. The co-main event is for UFC Women’s Strawweight Championship with Zhang Weili defending the title against Yan Xiaonan. It is the first-time two Chinese-born athletes would clash in a title fight in UFC. Justin Gaethje was announced to defend BMF title against Max Holloway in a lightweight bout.
