Conor McGregor vs Michael Chandler UFC June 29

Conor McGregor has revealed the plans for his return to UFC octagon after 3 years.

McGregor promised on social media earlier that he would reveal the date of his return fight on New Year’s Day. He followed through on this to announce(via X/Twitter) that he would be fighting in International Fight Week 2024, which will be on June 29 in Las Vegas, NV.

McGregor also revealed that his opponent will be Michael Chandler and they will fight at 185 lbs. While all the other announcements are believable, it remains to be seen if 185 lbs will be the weight McGregor and Chandler end up fighting. Both have fought at 155 lbs in UFC in their previous fights. Chandler also took to Twitter to say that he would be ready to fight at 185 lbs.

The pair are slated to fight ever since they were roped in as coaches for The Ultimate Fighter Season 31 last year. However, the uncertainty around McGregor’s recovery and USADA clearance has kept on pushing their showdown further and further.

McGregor finally enrolled for USADA testing in early October and was required to be under the program for six months minimum to return to the cage. McGregor last fought at UFC 264 PPV in International Fight Week 2021 where he suffered a leg break against Dustin Poirier.

UFC’s International Fight Week is their biggest event of the year since 2016. The event usually takes place in early July, but MMA Reporter Ariel Helwani confirmed that the 2024 edition of IFW will take place in the last week of June this year.

Helwani also reported that McGregor was pushing hard to be part of UFC 300, which is slated for April 13. But, UFC and McGregor settled on June 29 date after a meeting last week.

The event on June 29 can be called as UFC 302 or UFC 303. International Fight Week events have taken place at T-Mobile Center in Las Vegas, NV. Follow here for the latest UFC Schedule 2024.
