Both welterweight headliners unbeaten going into the bout but only one would come out it with an unblemished record intact. The bout was supposed to take place on in March this year, but Ortiz had to pull out due to sickness.
McKinson then fought Alex Martin that night and defeated him via unanimous decision to get his 22 straight wins. Ortiz was in action last year in August where he defeated Egidijus Kavaliauskas via TKO in the eighth round.
