Emanuel Navarrete took on Oscar Valdez to headline Top Rank Boxing event on August 12, 2023, at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, AZ.

Navarrete defended his WBO Super Featherweight Championship that he won in his last fight by beating Liam Wilson via ninth-round TKO in February this year. He was on 32 fights winning streak and has been a champion in 3 different weight divisions now.

Oscar Valdez had held this title once before. He lost it to Shakur Stevenson in April 2022. Since then, he had defeated Adam Lopez in May this year. Was he able to win this title once again?
