Mbilli defended his WBC Continental Americas Super Middleweight title as he faced Nicholson. He defeated Carlos Gongora this year in March via unanimous decision to get to 24 fights unbeaten in his pro career. Nicholson was coming off a loss against Demetrius Andrade this year in January. This broke his 3 fights winning streak.
