The fight will be distributed by Top Rank as the promoter outbids Matchroom Boxing. Top Rank submitted a bid of $2,115,000 against Matchroomβs bid of $2,100,000. As a result, it is guaranteed that Beterbiev will earn around $1.33 Million whereas Smith will get around $571K. Moreover, the winner of this bout will receive 10% of this purse.Β
Artur Beterbiev is still undefeated and is also the only champion who holds a 100% knockout record. He is coming off an eighth-round TKO win against Anthony Yarde earlier this year in January.Β
On the other hand, Callum Smith rebounded from his loss against Canelo Alvarez by having two back-to-back finishes. First, he beat Lenin Castillo via a second-round KO, then he went on and defeated Mathieu Bauderlique via a fourth-round KO in his most recent match.Β
Now, it will be interesting to see whether Callum Smith is able to become a two-division champion or not, and if Artur Beterbiev manages to keep his 100% knockout record on August 19.
