WWE SmackDown June 23, 2023, Match Card & Preview

WWE SmackDown episode of May 23, 2023, will feature the women’s tag title unification bout and continues the Bloodline drama before they enter the Civil War at Money in the Bank 2023 event.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler will face NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Isla Dawn & Alba Fyre in a women’s tag titles unification bout. Bayley will defend her MITB ladder match spot against Shotzi whereas Cameron Grimes will face Baron Corbin in a rematch. Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler vs Isla Dawn & Alba Fyre

NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Isla Dawn & Alba Fyre were interrupted by the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler on the June 9 episode of SmackDown. The former MMA competitors made it clear that they are willing to clear the women’s tag division and they will start with Dawn & Fyre. The latter accepted the challenge for a unification bout, which will take place this Friday. Who will stand at the top of the women’s tag team division?

Shotzi vs Bayley

Last week, Iyo Sky lost the singles match against Zelina Vega after getting distracted by Bayley who was only trying to help her. She confronted Bayley backstage, but they were interrupted by Shotzi. The latter added fuel to the fire before challenging Bayley for her MITB ladder match spot. Iyo Sky accepted the challenge on behalf of Bayley as revenge. Will Shotzi be able to capitalize this time? 

Cameron Grimes vs Baron Corbin

Baron Corbin was humiliated by Cameron Grimes a few weeks ago when the latter defeated him in seconds in his inaugural SmackDown match. Corbin attacked him backstage before moving to NXT to challenge Carmelo Hayes for the NXT title. Grimes has since attacked Corbin before Corbin once again laid out Grimes during last week’s SmackDown episode. Will Baron Corbin be able to gain momentum by defeating Cameron Grimes in a rematch before he faces Melo for the NXT title at NXT Gold Rush?

What Else to Expect?

The Usos are officially out of The Bloodline after the segment last week and are set to face Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa at Money in the Bank. While Roman Reigns will be absent from this week’s show, what will Solo and Paul Heyman do to try and hurt The Usos?

Pretty Deadly are set to challenge Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn for the titles in London next week. Expect them to pull some trick to humiliate the champions.

Similarly, Charlotte Flair is set to compete with Asuka over WWE Women’s Championship. More build-up is expected for this match.
