WWE SmackDown June 16, 2023, Preview & Match Card
WWE SmackDown episode of June 16, 2023, will feature the return of Roman Reigns as the build-up continues for Money in the Bank 2023 event.
AJ Styles & Michin will take on Karrion Kross & Scarlett in a mixed tag team match. The #1 contender tag team gauntlet match and Iyo Sky vs Zelina Vega are also announced. Roman Reigns Returns
The Tribal Chief Roman Reigns missed June 9 episode of SmackDown where Jey Uso failed to divide where his loyalty resides. However, Jey stated that if he stays in the Bloodline, then he would like Paul Heyman out of it. Jey later ended up losing the match for United States Championship after interruptions from Pretty Deadly and when Jimmy Uso and Solo Siko ended up fighting each other.
In all this chaos, Jimmy ended up hitting Jey with a superkick which became the reason for Jey’s loss. Jey was clearly miffed with both Solo and Jimmy along with Paul Heyman. Now, Roman Reigns returns this week and will write the next chapter of the Bloodline story. But, the question remains, who will Jey choose? Jimmy or Roman?
Iyo Sky vs Zelina Vega
Last week on SmackDown Lowdown, Iyo Sky and Bayley were boasting about their victories and claiming that one of them would leave MITB with the suitcase. Zelina Vega, who is also in the Money in the Bank match already, interrupted them and said she would not let Damage CTRL trash talk anymore. Zelina then challenged any one of them to a match this Friday which was accepted by Iyo Sky.
AJ Styles & Michin vs Karrion Kross & Scarlett
A few weeks back, Karrion Kross and Scarlett started targeting AJ Styles. Styles defeated Kross in a singles match on May 26 SmackDown episode. Last week, AJ Styles was at ringside during Michin’s match. He was soon confronted by Scarlett who blinded AJ blowing the red dust in his eyes which allowed Karrion Kross to choke him out. It set up a mixed tag team match between the team of AJ Styles & Michin and Karrion Kross & Scarlett.
Tag Team Gauntlet Match
Last week, every single tag team on SmackDown tag team roster wanted a shot at the undisputed tag team titles. As a result, WWE announced a #1 contender tag team gauntlet match featuring The OC, Latino World Oder, Street Profits, Brawling Brutes, and Pretty Deadly. Who will be the next team to challenge for the undisputed tag titles?
