WWE is set to present its first SmackDown of the new year on January 7, 2022, which will be the fallout episode of WWE Day 1. Brock Lesnar will arrive at the blue brand to confront Roman Reigns. The event will air live from the Mohegan Sun Arena Uncasville, CT. 

WWE Champion Brock Lesnar has already confirmed that he would appear on the forthcoming episode of SmackDown to confront Roman Reigns, who he is supposed to face at WWE Day 1. 

There is also a possibility that the Intercontinental championship match that was removed from the card of Day 1 will now take place at the next episode of the blue brand.

Reigns & Lesnar Face to Face

The show opens with the recap of Brock Lesnar winning WWE Championship and the promo on RAW. WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns comes out as his music hits. Roman asks the crowd to acknowledge him and then says all things turned into chaos in week that he was not here. Roman says there are two people that he does not want to see ever again – Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman. Lesnar’s music hits and he comes out with Heyman.

Lesnar almost gets into Roman’s face before announcing himself as the reigning and defending champion. Lesnar says at Day 1, he got what he wanted – WWE World Championship, and Roman got what he wanted in Universal Championship. Lesnar then adds that they should now give the people what they want – title vs title, champion vs champion. Roman says it is a good idea, but it is not his idea. Also, he does not want to do any business with trash bag like Paul Heyman.

Heyman gets emotional and asks Roman how can he talk to him like this after all he has done for him and that he loves him and was saving him from Lesnar. Lesnar takes offense on Heyman’s outburst. Roman then takes offense on Lesnar shouting at Heyman. Heyman also not happy when Lesnar fires back at Roman. Heyman and Lesnar argue in the ring and Roman takes advantage to nail Lesnar with a Superman punch. Roman takes his title and leaves.

Sami Zayn is interviewed backstage. He reminds us how he was robbed of Intercontinental Championship last year and now Nakamura is ducking him and putting Boogs against him. But Boogs is no match for the master strategist. Sami gets distracted by Johnny Knoxville. Sami asks him what he is doing here. Johnny replies that he is here to talk to management about his campaign to get in the Royal Rumble.

Sami says one need technical wrestling skills here to be in the WWE ring. Knoxville tells him that one doesn’t need technical wrestling to dump somebody over the ropes to eliminate them. Zayn says he is unqualified and hasn’t shown a veteran like Sami that he’s got what it takes. Sami leaves as his music hits.

Sami Zayn vs Rick Boogs

Sami tries to rush Boogs after playing possum. Boogs hits a couple of German suplex and a bench press powerslam. We cut to a break.

After the break, Boogs swings Sami around in a gutwrench. Sami gets to the ropes and drops Boogs’ face on them to get upperhand. Sami hits a running elbow. Boogs counters with a bear hug and transitions it into a vertical suplex. Sami tries to counter vertical suplex but Boogs overpower him and hits it anyway.

Sami runs to the floor and tries to escape through the crowd. Boogs picks him up and throws him back to the ring. Sami hits a big boot on the apron as Boogs tries to enter the ring. Sami goes to the floor and sends Boogs in. Sami gets into an argument with Nakamura on the floor. Boogs rolls him up in an inside cradle to get the pin and the win.

Winner – Rick Boogs

After the match, Sami is shouting at Boogs and Nakamura, who are on the floor. Knoxville comes from behind and dumps him over the rope. It is then announced that Knoxville has now qualified for the Royal Rumble.

Kayla Braxton is backstage with The New Day and it is informed that Street Fight later tonight will be their last shot at SmackDown Tag Team Titles. New Day duo is confident that they will leave with the titles.

WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair is out in the ring and talks about the women’s Royal Rumble match. She goes on to announce 18 names for the match including Mickie James, Bella Twins, Summer Rae, Kelly Kelly and many current stars. Flair then also announces herself for the match. Flair says she will win the match and then go on to pick the challenger of her choosing at WrestleMania.

Naomi interrupts her and comes out to the ring. Naomi asks her to defend the title right here tonight. Flair asks her what are her accomplishments recently to get a title shot. Naomi says she knows how it is done and slaps Flair. Flair attacks her but Naomi sends her to the floor. We cut to a break.

Charlotte Flair vs Naomi

Back and forth action to start the match. Flair takes control but Naomi comes back with a jawbreaker and then slams Flair’s face into the turnbuckles. Noami goes to the top and Flair trips her to drop her to the floor. Flair hits a big boot to send Naomi over the barricade. Naomi hits an overhead kick and then hits a blockbuster. Naomi gets into the ring while Flair is still on the floor. Sonya Deville comes out and announces that this match cannnot be won by count out. Naomi gets agitated at Sonya. Flair attacks her from behind. We cut to a break.

Naomi is trying to fight back as we return. She hits roundhouse kick and counters a body slam into a crossbody. Naomi hits a leg drop for a two-count. Naomi goes to the top and hits another crossbody for a two-count.

Naomi nails some forearms before both women hit a big boot at the same time. Naomi hits a core Nelson for a two-count. Flair fights back with a backbreaker for another two-count. Flair goes for the powerbomb but Naomi counters with a bulldog. She goes for the split legged moonsault but Flair drops her on the ropes and hits a suplex and Natural Selection for the pin and the win.

Happy Talks w/ Drew McIntyre

Happy Corbin is out in the ring for Happy Talks. Corbin says Madcapp Moss has turned his back to COVID and is out for tonight. He then talks about how they beat up Drew McIntyre at Day 1, but Drew is here tonight. Madcapp Moss comes out mimicking Drew as his music hits. He has tiny sword in the ring and walks gingerly into the ring with neck brace on.

Corbin helps him into the ring and gets him seated. Corbin asks Moss(as Drew) how he is here after all the beating. Moss tries a poor mimickry of Drew as he replies to Corbin. Corbin asks Drew(actually Moss) who will win if they one on one against each other. Moss replies it is definitely Corbin. Moss then starts to laugh as removes the neck brace. The Viking Raiders enter for the match. We cut to a break.

The Viking Raiders(Erik & Ivar) vs Happy Corbin & Madcapp Moss

Corbin missses a big boot and Ivar nails him with his boot. Erik tags in and slams Ivar into Corbin. Moss nails a cheap shot on Erik and Corbin hits him with deep six for a two-count. Moss tags in and hits a running tackle on Erik. Erik tries to fight back but Moss hits a fallaway slam. Corbin tags in and kicks at Erik’s knee. Erik tries to fight back but Corbin nails him with an elbow.

Corbin tags out and Erik drops him from the apron. Moss beats him up before Erik nails him with a ripcord knee. Corbin trips Ivar from the apron as Erik goes to tag out. Moss hits him with One Punch finisher move to get the pin on Erik.

Winners – Madcapp Moss & Happy Corbin

Adam Pearce goes backstage to inform Roman Reigns about his opponent at Royal Rumble. Roman says he does not care who it will be since no one is on his level. Roman tells Pearce to leave.

The Usos vs New Day – Street Fight for WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship

New Day start with some double team action on Jey. Jimmy takes him to the floor. Kofi hits them with a dive on the floor to take us to a break.

We return to see both team on the ramp fighting. They get back to the ring and Jey hits a Samoan drop on Woods. Usos now double team to hit Kofi with a Samoan Drop. The Usos tape up Woods’ hand to the ropes. Kofi hits a suplex on Jey and rolls up Jimmy for a two-count. The Usos are low bridged to the floor. Jey slams Kofi’s face to the announce table while Jimmy sends Woods over the barricade. They pick up a steel step and runs over both opponents one by one by it.

We return to see Kofi with a chest shield and Woods with a royal helmet. New Day hands their protective gears to Usos and nail them with stereo superkicks against them. Jimmy fights back and nails a kick to Woods. Jey also returns to kick Kofi. Jey goes for a move on Kofi against the table but Kofi cuts him with Trouble in Paradise. Jimmy breaks the pin. Woods goes for the elbow drop from the top but Usos brings him down with double superkicks. The Usos hits magic killer on Kofi through the table to get the pin and the win.

Winner – The Usos(retains SmackDown Tag Titles)

Someone knocks on Roman’s door backstage. Roman tells him to come in. The person walks in and Roman is shocked. He stands up to come face to face with him. It turns out to be Seth Rollins.

Will Brock Lesnar continue his feud with Roman Reigns or will he put an end to it to shift his focus to his Royal Rumble opponent, Bobby Lashley?

Intercontinental Championship Match: It is speculated that Shinsuke Nakamura vs Sami Zayn Intercontinental Championship match will now take place on the January 7 edition of SmackDown after being removed from WWE Day 1 match card.
