WWE Royal Rumble: Sami Zayn Chooses Owens Over Reigns, Bloodline
Sami Zayn, Roman Reigns and The Bloodline’s storyline took a major turn at WWE Royal Rumble 2023 event.
Roman Reigns was able to defeat Kevin Owens after a brutal match with only Sami Zayn and Paul Heyman in his corner. During the match itself, Sami was conflicted seeing his former best friend being beaten up by his Tribal chief in a brutal manner. Sami even hesitated in handing Roman a steel chair which even allowed Owens to hit him with a pop-up powerbomb.
However, Roman was able to survive that scare and hit a spear later in the match to pin Owens. After the match, The Usos and Solo Sikoa came to the ring and Roman told them to attack KO even further.
The Bloodline continued to show brutality as all three of Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso and Solo Sikoa continued their beatdown. After Solo hits a hip attack with Owens’ neck wrapped around the steel chair, Roman handed them handcuffs to tie Owens down with the ropes. A barrage of superkicks followed.
Sami was watching all this and was getting exasperated. He finally gave in and stopped Roman Reigns when he was going to hit Owens with a steel chair himself. Sami told Roman that it is beneath him and he should now let KO go.
Roman then asked Sami to hit KO which put Sami in an even bigger conflict. Ultimately, Sami hit Roman Reigns with the steel chair instead of KO to send everyone in the ring in shock.
Most shocked was Jey Uso. But Jimmy and Solo Sikoa beat down Sami before Roman joined in. Jey did not participate in this beatdown even after Roman’s orders and left the ring. Roman Reigns then battered Sami Zayn with a steel chair a few times before removing Sami’s “The Honorary Uce” t-shirt.
It remains to be seen if this storyline leads to a showdown between Sami Zayn and Roman Reigns in future. Roman now also has a danger in front of him in Cody Rhodes who won the men’s Royal Rumble.
