Welcome to the Live Results Blog for WWE NXT episode of January 17, 2023, which continued to build up towards the Vengeance Day 2023 event.

Two tag team matches were announced in advance for the show. Carmelo Hayes and Trick Willams faced Apollo Crews and Axiom after they had crossed each others’ paths in the last few weeks. Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen clashed with Gallus’ Wolfgang and Mark Coffey. Gallus attacked Briggs and Jensen last week to take their place in the Gauntlet match last week.

The storyline between Bron Breakker and Grayson Waller over NXT Championship also continued as well as Toxic Attraction’s rivalry with NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez. Alba Fyre faced Sol Ruca while Thea Hail took on Valentina Feroz.

  • Apollo Crews & Axiom defeated Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams in a tag team match via pinfall.

The show starts with a recap of New Year’s Evil episode.

Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams vs Apollo Crews & Axiom

Axiom and Trick start the match. They counter each others’ arm-wringers before Axiom hits a dropkick. Trick uses his power to hit a big tackle before hitting a quick slam and big right. Axiom hits a double arm drag on both opponents before hitting a dropkick to Carmelo. Apollo comes in and ducks Carmelo a few times before hitting a dropkick. Another dropkick to Trick before he trips both men with a low dropkick.

Carmelo hits a roundhouse kick and tilt-a-whirl bulldog. Axiom tags in and hits a German suplex on Carmelo to send him to the floor. Trick checks on Carmelo and Apollo throws Axiom on them to take us to a break.

Axiom rolls up Carmelo for a two-count. Both men go down after hitting clotheslines to each other at the same time. Axiom goes for a German suplex and Apollo also comes in when Trick tries to intefere. They hit two German suplexes in tandem. Trick and Carmelo hit German suplexes in return. Apollo is sent to the floor and Axiom is cornered.

Axiom fights back wtih a dropkick to Williams on the apron. Apollo tags in and hits tackles and clotheslines on Carmelo before some corner splashes. He hits a powerslam and a standing moonsault when Trick breaks the pin. Axiom hits Golden Ratio on Trick after throwing him to the floor. Hayes jumps from the top but Apollo counters with a pin attempt to get the three count.

Winner – Apollo Crews & Axiom

Tony D’Angelo takes Stacks to the same bridge from where they threw 2 Dime. Tony praises Stacks and says he has proven to be a loyal soldier but the time has come. Stacks says he is ready to face anything. Tony hands him a jacket with his family’s crest on it and says Stacks is his own boss now.


Tiffany Straton is backstage and McKenzie Mitchell takes us to footage where Indi Hartwell told Straton that she does not deserve a separate locker room and turns it to the women’s locker room. Straton throws insults at Indi and the rest of the locker room and says she will show everyone who is the star here.


Jacy Jayne and Gigi Dolin come out to the ring and start to talk about how they accomplished their mission last week by becoming the joint winners of Battle Royal. They clarify that they do not have any issues between them and that their revenge tour is on. Lyra Valkyrie comes out and says she would have won the Battle Royal last week if not for Cora Jade. She gets into the ring and Toxics tell them that they run the women’s division. Valkyrie says that they are taking on Roxanne together because they know they can’t beat her alone. They attack Valkyrie but Roxanne Perez runs out quickly.


The Creed Brothers are arguing about who will face Jinder Mahal next. Ivy Nile comes in and says she is tired of making them understand. She tells them that they are not disciplined and focused Creed Brothers anymore and could not beat Indus Sher or Jinder Mahal.


Stevie Turner reviews women’s battle royal from last week on her latest streaming.

Sol Ruca vs Alba Fyre

They lock up and Fyre takes Ruca to the corner. Ruca comes out of the corner immediately. Fyre slams with a waistlock takedown. Ruca lands on her feet on an arm drag and shows off more athleticism. She hits a crossbody before Fyre gets a pin attempt. Ruca counters with a jawbreaker. Fyre gets frustrated and slams her to the mat. Fyre hits several kicks before going for the Gory Bomb. Ruca blocks it before Fyre hits a superkick. Fyre slams his face to the corner. Isla Dawn comes out at the sky box and Fyre gets distracted. Ruca hits Sol-Snatcher to get the pinfall.

Winner – Sol Ruca

Alba Fyre is shown frustrated at her loss as Sol Ruca celebrates.


Dijak gets a pre-recorded promo saying that Tony D’Angelo and his goons saw what happens when someone clashes with him. He will hear a mercy plea from Wes Lee and is ready to not hurt him if he can hand him the North American title.


Grayson Waller gives an interview backstage and says the reason he is not the NXT Champion is not Bron Breakker but the ropes. He has brought his own NXT title

Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen vs Gallus(Wolfgang & Mark Coffey)

Briggs and Jenses rush Gallus to start the match. Gallus take control easily against Jensen. Jensen fights back with punches to midsection. Briggs tags in for a double team on Coffey. Wolfgang takes a cheap shot on Jensen when the referee was sending Briggs out. Gallus work on Jensen and keep him under control. Jensen jumps over Wolfgang and tags in Briggs.

Briggs tackles Wolfgang after fighting off a distraction from Coffey. Coffey takes a bling tag and drops Briggs on the apron. Gallus remove the floor padding but Jensen and Briggs fight back. Briggs hits a suplex on Coffey on the floor to take us to a break.

Jensen is fired up as we return and fights off both opponents. Wolfgang hits him with an elbow drop after Coffey brings him down with a knee strike. Gallus remain in control for a while with quick tags and target Jensen’s back. Jensen avoids a corner tackle from Coffey and tags in Briggs. Briggs fires big shots and drops both opponents to the floor. He hits an elbow on Coffey before Gallus drop Jensen on the exposed floor with a back body drop.

Briggs drops Wolfgang on the floor. He hits a side slam on Coffey in the ring. Fallon Henley is checking on Jensen and asking for a medical team as he is not able to get up. Briggs is distracted. Kiana James comes out to check on Jensen and starts to argue with Henley. Gallus double team on Briggs and hit him with a roundhouse kick and powerslam combo to get the pinfall.

Winner – Gallus

Duke Hudson is with Thea Hail as she gets ready for her match and is very nervous. Andre Chase comes in and shows them a video where Hudson says Chase U’s win-loss record is not reflecting good on him. Chase asks him to say anything to his face if he has a problem with him. Hudson says his words are taken way out of context, and they should first focus on Thea Hail’s match for now. They all go out.


Fallon Henley and Brooks Jensen are arguing over Kiana James. Jensen says she likes him and he like her, and Henley should not have a problem with them.

Valentina Feroz vs Thea Hail

Feroz starts with a side headlock takedown. Hail gets up and goes for an arm wringer. Feroz counters it before Hail also counters back. Hail hits an up kick before takedown from Feroz. Hail hits a dropkick before Feroz hits back with a pump kick. Elektra Lopez comes out to ringside as Feroz has put on a chinlock. Hail hits a kick to the face and a moonsault to get a two-count.

They collide in the middle of the ring with crossbody. Lopez puts brass knuckles on Feroz’s hands. Feroz says she does not need them and hands them to the referee. Hail hits a modified facebuster on Feroz to get the pinfall.

Winner – Thea Hail

Apollo Crews stops Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams in the parking lot and brags about his win. Hayes says he beat him in just a tag team match. Crews says a win is a win and is now looking for a barbershop.


Elektra Lopez goes to Valentina Feroz and says she has to throw the rule book away and just focus on winning. To learn more, Feroz should watch her match next week against Wendy Choo.


New Day come out to the ring and says they are done with Pretty Deadly and will now face Gallus. Pretty Deadly come out and say New Day is just mocking them. Pretty Deadly says they are done jumping the hoops for them and are rightful contenders for NXT Tag Team titles. Gallus come out and say Pretty Deadly don’t deserve to be the contenders after they defeated them last week.

Gallus tell New Day that they are next. Gallus say they are about ruining everyone’s fun. New Day says they are ready to fight anytime. Pretty Deadly attack both teams. New Day and Gallus send them out of the ring. Crew runs out to try and take things under control.


Roxanne Perez and Lyra Valkyrie are giving an interview when Javier Bernal comes in saying that his match is next. Perez and Valkyrie send him away.


NXT Champion Bron Breakker gets interviewed and says we do not know what would have happened in the match last week. Breakker says Waller just talks trash about every opponent he has faced so far and does not deserve to NXT Champion.

Javier Bernal vs Tyler Bate

Bernal is with his guitar in the ring and was about to start to sing when Tyler Bate interrupts him with his entrance. Bate starts with a tackle before Bernal hits back. Bate hits him with an armdrag. Bernal rakes his eyes when the referee was not watching. Bernal takes down Bate with cheap shots before a clothesline. He unloads with punches on the mat.

Bate fires back with his punches before blocking a bulldog. Bate hits a couple of flying shoulder tackles. Bate hits a kick from the corner and a bulldog. Bate thwarts more attacks from Bernal before hitting a springboard shoulder tackle. Bate hits Tiger Driver 98 to get the pinfall.

Winner – Tyler Bate

Fallon Henley comes to Brooks Jensen and Josh Briggs. Henley apologizes to Jensen regarding Kiana James and tells him that she got James as her tag team partner for a match next week.

Roxanne Perez & Lyra Valkyrie vs Toxic Attraction(Jacy Jayne & Gigi Dolin)

Perez and Valkyrie negate Toxic Attraction’s attempt to a quick start. They send Toxics to the floor and hit them with dives. Roxanne hits a dropkick on Jayne after a wheelbarrow roll through. Jayne fights out of an arm wringer from Valkyrie and tags in Dolin. Lyra slams Dolin face to the mat before Perez tags in to hit a dropkick.

Jayne gets a blind tag and attacks Perez from behind. Jayne hits a hip attack in the corner before a running knee from Dolin and a cannonball from Jayne. Dolin hits a diving headbutt and Jayne hits a senton to get a two-count. They continue with more double-team attacks. Lyra is knocked off the apron with a cheat shot. Perez blocks a suplex from Jayne and drops her with a bulldog.

Lyra and Gigi tag in. Lyra hits some kicks to Gigi and kicks away Jayne also. Cora Jade runs interference on the floor. Lyra tags in Roxanne who drops Gigi. Lyra hits Cora with a crossbody on the floor and they fight to the back. Jayne and Gigi tries to double team but Roxanne ducks under a roundhouse kick from Jayne. That kick catches Gigi. Roxanne kicks Jayne to the floor and hits Pop-Rox on Gigi to get the pinfall.

Winner – Roxanne Perez & Lyra Valkyrie
